JOB SUMMARY
Carries out various Engineering assignments of a broad and complex nature, to provide a means to successfully manufacture new products within the plant, reduce current production costs with new and improved processes, and improve product quality. These assignments usually require an appreciable amount of creativity and engineering judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Periodically evaluates manufacturing processes within the Plant for possible update.
2. Conceives designs, evaluates and/or procures new equipment and machinery.
3. Investigates needs for and justifies capital equipment.
4. Communicates information among company and vendor personnel.
5. Prepares cost estimates and justifications for process or building expansions.
6. Analyzes existing system and processes for potential labor and/or material cost reductions.
7. Coordinates the design, purchase and installation of new equipment to support changes in capacity or product design.
8. Seeks to reduce manufacturing costs by initiating and implementing productivity improvements.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Complies with, and responsible for enforcing, all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
2. Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles. Ensures compliance through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound Quality Assurance principles. Responsible for the activities and programs as defined for this position in the Quality Systems Manual - BDVS Broken Bow.
3. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
4. Observes all safety, environmental, and quality system standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
1. _Education_
A B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. A M.S. Degree in Business or a related field is preferred.
2. _Experience_
Position requires a minimum of three years experience in the Engineering field. Additional education could be used to satisfy the requirement.
Must possess a broad knowledge of the fundamental principles of machine design, kinetics, statistics, physics and other related technical sciences.
3. _Physical Requirements_
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
4. _Mental Requirements_
Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
5. _Equipment Use_
Ability to manually operate a computer with a standard keyboard.
6. _Working Conditions_
The position is subject to inside environmental conditions typically associated with an office environment.
7. _Supervision_
This position reports directly to the Project Engineering Supervisor.
This position has no supervision over others.
