Molding Process Engineer


JOB SUMMARY
Provides engineering support to the site molding operations to achieve production volumes at the highest quality, safety and lowest cost. Duties require application of engineering principles and practices specifically related to the processing and validation of injection molds, but extending, in broad areas of assignments, to support of all molding operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Input on the design and fabrication of injection molds.
Working with molding technicians, customers and support personnel, improve quality and output of molded components.
Supervision of operating parameters of molds and related support equipment. Assures adherence to manufacturing tolerances.
Coordination with the tool room leader, Tooling Engineer and mold repair personnel to trouble shoot problem molds.
Helps establish and achieve financial goals and budgets within injection molding. Assists in setting standard costs for plastic parts and projected capital budget expenditures.
Directs the setting of optimum molding parameters to achieve production volume goals at the lowest cost. Issues periodic status reports on molds and other related equipment.
Leads, plans and coordinates projects to meet quality, productivity and cost objectives consistent with departmental goals.
Acts as liaison between the site molding operations and external customers, vendors and stakeholders.
Coordination with other Engineers and Molding Technologies (R&D) research to improve existing plastic parts and generates appropriate support data to gain approval for recommended changes. Makes recommendations as to the technical feasibility of the method or means to resolve diagnosed problems.
Assures the quality of training and development of department personnel. This is to include established and emerging technologies alike.
Performs equipment and mold validations to insure budgeted cost and quality levels are achieved. Prepares required documentation i.e., validation protocols/reports to meet quality system guidelines.
Supports mold and press replacement, upgrades, operation and set-up.
Integrally involved in material changes, trials, testing, etc.
Supports design, implementation and maintenance of all molding auxiliary equipment.
Assists in the coordination of debugging and testing of prototypes, production and/or auxiliary equipment.
Helps establish machine specifications and prepares purchase requisitions and/or capital budget requests for new equipment.
Initiate, investigate and develop new ideas, methods, materials and safety improvements.
Prepare technical reports and charts detailing mold and operational performance in relation to established goals.
Performs other duties as required.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Complies with, and responsible for enforcing, all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles. Ensures compliance through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound Quality Assurance principles. Responsible for the activities and programs as defined for this position in the Quality Systems Manual - BDVS Broken Bow.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education
BS degree in a Plastics, Molding Technology, Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience
Four to ten years experience in injection molding/blow molding manufacturing operations. Requires demonstrated mold design experience. Must have the ability to design and implement manufacturing processes of components with tight tolerances and quality requirements. Establish molding process parameters, validation of equipment/process and appropriate capital funds as necessary.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach.
Ability to visually differentiate between colors and shades as demonstrated by passing a color discrimination test.
Mental Requirements
Demonstrated effective verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to disseminate technical expertise to technical personnel in the manufacturing environment and act as Plant liaison with the BDVS Division Technology Group for the purpose of transferring new processes, products and technology.
Equipment Use
Ability to manually operate a computer with a standard keyboard.
Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
Working knowledge of precision measuring gauges and equipment.
Working Conditions
The position is subject to inside environmental conditions typically associated with an office environment with regular working times within production and machine shop settings.
Supervision
This position reports directly to the Molding Engineer.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
